December 14, 2015 Today's reading: Amos 2 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13 Nowadays many people do not deny the truth and moral value of the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ. They consider Him to have been a wise man, a prophet yet, they reject decisively the thought that He is the Son of God. Now just how could I credit anyone with credibility who deceive me as to his own person? He would be a swindler. When Jesus was on earth, he declared clearly enough that He is the Son of God. He even confirmed it knowing well enough that such a statement would lead to His crucifixion(cf ) One cannot only half believe Jesus Christ. With Him, it is all or nothing. All: It is not sufficient to consider Christ's teaching to be true. I must accept by faith that He, the Son of God, loves me and gave Himself for me. His atoning death on the cross alone can reconcile me to God and bring me into proper relationship with Him, namely that of a child to his Father. Nothing: If I am prepared to accept solely His teaching without, believing that He is the Son of God who sacrificed Himself for me, then that merely amounts to Christian ethics, which can save no-one. It is therefore necessary to come to know the infinite value of the work of Jesus, the Son of God. His death on the cross cancels the sins that separated us from God. Whoever believes this and lays hold on it will receive true peace in his heart, the perfect peace that God grants: peace with God for those who were His enemies. |

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart. (Hebrews 4:15) There are those who would use the truth of the real manhood of the Lord Jesus and His gracious, sympathetic identification with our humanity as an...More |
Open Heavens for Wednesday, June 18, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More |
