Death

O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?
1 Corinthians 15:55

Death
An old man living in a retirement home once read a small biblical leaflet entitled “Death – the gateway to eternity”. As he believed in the Lord Jesus, this subject was interesting to him. After having read the tract, he lent it to a fellow resident. After some time, the latter asked the believing man if he could keep it. He was, as he said, captivated by its contents.

Death is a subject that occupies many people. Those in their aging years are inevitably confronted with it. Many also have a certain fear of death and what follows. But all who believe in the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour find many comforting words on this subject in the Bible, such as in today’s verse.

With regard to Christians who are still alive here on earth, the Bible asks the question: “O Death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin. But because we know that our sins are forgiven, death has lost its terror for us.

In reference to our dear believing loved ones who have already gone home, it is said, “O Hades, where is your victory?” Yes, death has not won a final victory over them. When the Lord Jesus returns, they will all be raised and go to heaven with Him. What a joyful reunion that will be!

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 48:1-19 · Psalms 149:1-9

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"
