The Lord carries, lifts and saves

Even to your old age, I am He, and even to grey hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.
Isaiah 46:4

The Lord carries, lifts and saves
The Babylonians were once proud of their gods and of their own abilities. However, they carried around the idols themselves as statues during their festivals. They thought they were safe under their protection until the night when the Medes and Persians conquered the city of Babylon. Then this empire, along with its gods, collapsed.

In contrast, the Israelites were carried by their God. He had promised to bring them through all difficulties.

Everybody who doesn’t believe in the living God has their gods: their philosophy, their ideology, their idols as well as wealth, power and honour. They proudly hold them up – until the day of testing. As soon as an economic collapse, illness or death reaches them, the hour of truth comes. When a person can no longer carry his philosophy of life – is it able to uphold him then?

How much better it is to believe in the living God and to trust Him! What is natural for children, we as adults have to learn afresh: God wants to carry us in our weaknesses. When insurmountable obstacles stand before us, He doesn’t take them away but He lifts us above them. Whatever difficulties come our way, He will save us.

Have you trusted God in your life so far? Trust Him for the future too!

Today’s reading: Joel 2:1-17 · Proverbs 2:1-8

GOD PROMOTES

God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

A DISTINCTIVE FAITH

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
