Being finished with ourselves

It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.
Galatians 2:20

Being finished with ourselves
Many Christians enjoy thinking poorly of themselves and also speaking of themselves in this way. However those who have finished with themselves rejoice that they no longer have to think of or talk about themselves at all. They only want to be filled with Christ and look to Him in faith. It is their hearts’ desire to think and live as the Lord Jesus thought and lived.

When we have sinned, however, it is necessary for us to occupy ourselves with ourselves. The Holy Spirit must then draw our attention to the wrongdoing we have committed so that we can recognise it, condemn it and confess it. But this is not the state God desires a believer to be in.

As soon as the clouded relationship with our God and Father is restored through our self-judgment and confession, the Holy Spirit wants to magnify Christ in us. He desires to fill our hearts with the glory of the Lord Jesus. For this purpose, He uses the Word of God, which shows us in many ways how great and glorious our Saviour and Lord is.

This occupation with Christ has a positive effect on our attitude and behaviour: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Today’s reading: Ezra 7:19-28 · Proverbs 8:1-9

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More

SATAN INTIMIDATES

When Goliath came to the battlefield, he took the form of a big problem but he later became a big opportunity. He came as a mighty obstacle but turned into a mighty door of opportunity when God stepped in. Every giant who stands in your way this season shall become a door to your breakthrough in Jesus' Name. The...More
