God is still waiting

Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Ecclesiastes 8:11

God is still waiting
The Bible emphasises several times that God is slow to anger and great in kindness (e.g. Exodus 34:6; Psalm 103:8). That is why He usually doesn’t intervene immediately when people do evil and sin against their Creator.

This doesn’t mean that God overlooks or turns a blind eye to wrongdoing. The Bible is very clear on this point: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men” (Romans 1:18); and, “But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God” (Romans 2:5). The punishment of the wicked will not fail, and God’s judgment will be absolutely just.

In His great goodness, God is still waiting today to execute this condemnnation on the wicked. How sad when His patience is abused and men sin against Him even more. It is much better to use this period of grace to repent. Now, today, is the opportunity to escape punishment and get right with God.

Jesus Christ can save from divine judgment. Because He died on the cross for the lost, everyone who acknowledges their guilt before God and believes in the Saviour will be absolved of this guilt. But everyone has to make this decision for themselves while this reprieve is still in effect.

Today’s reading: Ezra 8:1-30 · Proverbs 8:10-21
