God feels with (1)

And the Lord said: I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
Exodus 3:7

God feels with (1)
The people of Israel lived in Egypt at this time, enslaved and without any prospect of liberation. So they cried out to their God, who told the Israelites: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people, ... have heard their cry, … for I know their sorrows”. He called them “My people”: Shouldn’t that alone have provided comfort for them? Because if someone says “my”, then this testifies to a relationship, a claim of ownership, an inner connection.

But God said even more: “I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey”. How gracious of God to “come down”. Often He spoke from heaven – to the patriarchs for example – but sometimes He appeared on earth to people to talk to them and comfort them, as He did here with Moses. He even wanted to bring about the salvation of the people of Israel Himself, and to lead them to a beautiful destination.

In the same way, God also saw the hopeless situation of mankind and became man in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He “visited” us, got to know our situation, and then died on the cross to create a way of salvation for us.

Whoever turns to Him now, whoever accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, will be saved, will be liberated, will walk with Him on the path of life, and will be with Him for eternity. Such a person can say, “Thank You, Lord, for seeing my misery, and that You died for me and saved me! Thank you that You will bring me home to Yourself one day!”

Today’s reading: Nehemiah 12:31-47 · Proverbs 16:25-33

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More
