The saving rope

Behold, God works all these things, twice, in fact, three times with a man, to bring back his soul from the Pit.
Job 33:29–30

The saving rope
It was in the year 1936. Four bold mountaineers from nearby countries attempted the first ascent of the north face of the Eiger in the Bernese Oberland. After successfully climbing a challenging section, they removed the belaying rope from that point in order to be able to use it again further up. But that was a disastrous decision, because in doing this they closed off their way back.

The weather became terrible and dangerous rockfalls threatened them. When they had to make their return, it was specifically this difficult descent that cost them their lives. All help came too late.

In our lives, the eternal God works through different situations to lead us back to Him. He has already prepared everything for this. He sent to earth His Son, Jesus Christ, who gave His life for us on the cross.

Thus, Jesus Christ is the “saving rope” from God that ensures our eternal survival. Those who acknowledge their guilt and believe in Him are safe and will spend the future with God in eternal happiness. Have you already accepted this “rescue”? Or are you rejecting God’s offer until your time is up?

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all.”

1 Timothy 2:5–6

Today’s reading: Esther 2:11-23 · Proverbs 19:1-7

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
