Under the rubble

Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
Matthew 18:14

Under the rubble
During an earthquake in Armenia, a school collapsed like a house of cards. There appeared to be no survivors. Nevertheless, a man began searching through the rubble. It was the father of a boy who was trapped beneath the debris. Many times this father had promised his son, “I will always be there for you if you need me – no matter what.”

He didn’t listen to people who tried to convince him that his efforts were useless. He worked hard. He couldn’t help it; he loved his son too much to give up on him. After more than 36 hours of toil, when he had just arduously moved a large concrete block, he heard several voices. He called his son’s name and the answer came promptly, “Dad, it’s me! Help us!” A short time later, he had dug his way to his son and thirteen other children who were all completely exhausted. In a cavity under the rubble, they had miraculously remained alive. What a rescue!

This incident reminds us of God’s great love for human beings. God is there for us. He wants to save us. We are not buried under rubble, but we are buried under the great burden of the guilt of our sins, which separates us from God and blocks our way to heaven.

That is why God did everything He could do to save us. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to redeem us. The Lord Jesus died on the cross so that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of his sins and eternal life.

Today’s reading: Esther 8:15-9:10 · Proverbs 21:11-20

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More
