Safe in the hand of God

But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, You are my God. My times are in Your hand.
Psalm 31:14–15

Safe in the hand of God
On 14 August, 2018, the Morandi motorway bridge in Genoa, Italy, collapsed over a length of 250 metres. More than 30 passenger cars and three trucks plunged into the depths below. Forty-three people lost their lives. The investigating commission attributed the collapse to signs of deterioration.

This tragedy shows how unsafe life on earth is. Technical defects and human errors can suddenly lead to catastrophe. Yes, we are far from having everything under control. This realisation evokes an uncomfortable feeling of helplessness and fear in many of us.

Isn’t this a reason to place our lives in God’s hands? He invites us to make things right with Him and then to find peace and security in Him. His Son Jesus Christ became man and laid down His life on the cross so that we might be reconciled to God through personal faith in Him and confession of our sins.

Now we no longer need to be afraid of what might happen to us. In every situation of our lives, we know that we are safe in the hand of God. This does not mean that no misfortune can befall us. But we now have the comforting assurance that nothing and no one can separate us from God’s love. Added to this is the certain hope of one day being with Jesus Christ in glory.

Today’s reading: Micah 4:1-13 · Proverbs 28:20-28

LIFE IN ABUNDANCE 1

Under normal circumstances, no human being desires to be a nonentity. The various forces in the world however, are responsible for many people spending their entire life amounting to nothing and dwelling in the valley of not-well-to-do persons. The Almighty God Himself in making man did not intend for him to be a...More

A spiritual treasure had been entrusted to the apostle Paul that he wished to share with the Christians in Rome. It did not come from his own abilities or knowledge. What he wished to impart to them he had himself received...More
