A man was driving his car on a...

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you.
Psalm 55:22

Put down the load!
A man was driving his car on a country road when he passed a woman carrying two heavy bags. He stopped and offered her a lift. The woman thanked him warmly and took a seat in the back.

A little while later, when the driver looked in the rear-view mirror, he noticed that the woman was holding her heavy bags on her lap. Then he said, “Why don’t you put your luggage down and get some rest? My car can carry you and your load.”

What do we do with our fears, needs and worries? In the Bible we are told, “… casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). In prayer we can bring our burdens to God and lay them down before Him.

However, it is often the case that after praying we pick up our burden again and continue to drag it along with us. Instead of entrusting our troubles to our God and Father, we remain burdened and discouraged. We lack firm confidence in His power and goodness. We forget that He is able to carry us and our burdens.

That is why today’s verse from the Psalms encourages us to trustingly place our cares in the hands of our strong God. Then our hearts will find peace and rest in the certainty that He cares for us. He loves us and always has our best interests at heart.

Today’s reading: Genesis 39:1-23 · Psalms 24:1-10

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-THE FALSE PROPHET

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS

Read:
that when he cried to the Lord, the Lord healed him. This is another testimony of someone who believed in the God that answers prayers. May prayer for someone using this devotional is that as you cry unto God today, He will answer you as He answered Hannah, Jabez and Elijah in Jesus'...More

The bankruptcy that saves

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him - for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease for ever.

You were not redeemed with silver or gold from your aimless conduct but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and...More
