There is no saviour besides Me.

There is no saviour besides Me.
Hosea 13:4

“Nick” lived an unremarkable life in his family and in a Christian environment until he turned sixteen. But from that point on everything changed. He threw overboard all that related to faith. High school graduation, university studies and a good job were the next steps in his life. Earning and spending money became a priority to him.

Then came the civil war with all its turmoil and horrors. Nick found himself on the wrong side. If influential people hadn’t obtained his release, he probably wouldn’t have lived. However, he did get to experience a short period of imprisonment, so that never again did he want to see the inside of a prison, let alone the small solitary cell. The thought of it still haunts him today. That’s why he left his home country.

So much for this quite unusual fate of this young person, but what does it have to do with God? Just this: His believing parents prayed persistently for him during this whole period. As Christians, they knew what earnest prayer could achieve.

And God intervened. When Nick was at his lowest point, distressed by his tormentors and facing death, the God of his childhood came to his mind – and he prayed to Him in his cell. God answered. The young man realised what Jesus had done for him and accepted Him as his personal Saviour. And then he experienced Jesus’ forgiveness for the wrong paths in his life. He promised to follow Him and do His will from that point on. Suddenly and surprisingly, he was set free.

Even today, Nick thanks his God for saving him from the threat of death and for saving his soul.

Today’s reading: Daniel 7:1-14 · Acts 2:1-13

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More

APPLY THE KEY

Every blessing worth its salt requires a key without which the seeker cannot access it. While some people have never experienced open doors, others once did, but the doors hitherto opened to them have been shut. In

I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised'
Joshua 1:3 NIV

Can you imagine how Joshua felt stepping into Moses' shoes? He needed assurance, so God told him: 1) I will give you every place where you set your foot.' In other words, just step out in faith and claim it....More
