Saved at the last hour

Today you will be with Me in Paradise.
Luke 23:43

Saved at the last hour
To the left and right of the cross of the Lord Jesus, two robbers were executed. One criminal mocked Christ. Even in his dying hour, when he was still in contact with the Saviour, he didn’t want to turn to God. He let the last opportunity for salvation pass by unused.

The other criminal, on the other hand, came to the realisation of his guilt and confessed, “We receive the due reward of our deeds”. Thereby he repented and admitted that he had sinned and deserved to be crucified! This sincere confession opened his eyes to the Saviour.

So the robber made a beautiful confession about Christ, “But this Man has done nothing wrong.” He grasped by faith that Jesus was blameless and therefore unjustly crucified. Then he turned to Him with a plea, “Lord, remember me when You come in Your kingdom.” Looking to the future, he placed his whole trust in Christ. His faith held fast to the glory of the Saviour and clung to Him because he could expect a hope beyond death from Him.

The Saviour immediately gave peace to the enlightened robber: “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Because the Lord Jesus would suffer and die for him, the repentant and believing criminal could be with Christ in the place of happiness after his death. He was saved for heaven.

Today’s reading: Daniel 9:1-14 · Acts 3:1-11

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with Gods timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
