I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 10:10

On July 21, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon. It was the famous “small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”. But there are people today who actually doubt whether the moonwalk really took place up there.

For one thing, there were 400,000 people involved in the Apollo program who had witnessed it all. In addition, the US astronauts’ radio communications were closely monitored by Russia and even precisely pinpointed. And if it had come from a film studio and not from outer space, Russia would have certainly made this public at that time, the height of the Cold War.

A probably even more controversial historical event is the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Few doubt that He lived and died here on earth. But those who deny His resurrection (which, by the way, is well attested) miss the actual mission of Jesus’ life. The Bible reports that He came into this world to give hope and a future – eternal life – to lost people. But to do that, He had to die His sacrificial death. He didn’t die because He was guilty of something. He was without sin and would never have had to die – unlike human beings. But He died for us and rose again as the victor over sin and death.

The life and resurrection of Jesus are of far-reaching significance for mankind, even impacting man’s very existence – much more crucial than a man’s first step on the moon. Christ brought life and immortality to light (2 Timothy 1:10). He came so that you and I might “have life and have it more abundantly”.

Today’s reading: Daniel 12:1-13 · Acts 4:32-37

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
