As a child, I attended Sunday school at a...

Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6

As a child, I attended Sunday school at a Christian church. As a parting gift, I received a beautiful pocket Bible with gilt edges and a zipper. Unfortunately, several years later I accidentally left this Bible on the train. Saddened by this loss, I subsequently obtained a new one.

Years passed. In the meantime I had become accustomed to my new Bible. Then one day, a Bible which I had long thought lost suddenly found its way into my hands: it was the Bible that had accompanied me during my childhood.

How happy I was to hold it in my hands again! For in it I had written down my conversion – the surrendering of life to Jesus Christ. On the last blank page, in my childish writing of that time, was written: “My conversion happened on 7/11/1982.” With this I had written down a Bible verse. Apparently, at the age of ten I was old enough to understand that Jesus Christ had made the way to God free for me. I was old enough to come to the Lord Jesus with my sins and accept Him as Saviour.

What is remarkable about this entry is that I made some spelling mistakes and, as a fourth grader, even wrote down some letters backwards. It was most likely due to my great joy, which I can still remember vividly. I knew that all my sins had been forgiven!

I also wrote down the same date in the margin of today’s Bible verse. It must have been Bible lectures on this passage in John’s Gospel that God used to show me the way to eternal life. How grateful I am that I was able to come to know the Lord Jesus as my Saviour even as a child!

Today’s reading: Job 17:1-16 · Acts 10:34-48

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More

Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read...More
