Search and rescue

I will seek what was lost.
Ezekiel 34:16

Search and rescue
Recently, I lost my young son in the crowd at a big train station. Frantically I called his name, rode the escalator from one floor to the next, and searched everywhere we had been. The minutes seemed like hours – until my son suddenly reappeared and ran into my arms.

When I think of all I would have done to find my child again, I am once again grateful for what Jesus Christ did to seek and save me.

o The Son of God became man and lived here in very simple circumstances in order to help all who had fallen into misery through their own fault. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we read, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”

o Jesus Christ went from place to place in Israel to introduce all people to the saving grace of God. Speaking to Nicodemus, He declared, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

o Finally, the Saviour gave His life on the cross to save sinners and reconcile them with God: “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).

Today’s reading: Job 36:1-21 · Acts 17:1-9

LIFE IN ABUNDANCE 1

Under normal circumstances, no human being desires to be a nonentity. The various forces in the world however, are responsible for many people spending their entire life amounting to nothing and dwelling in the valley of not-well-to-do persons. The Almighty God Himself in making man did not intend for him to be a...More

Thoughts on the Epistle to the Romans (10)
A spiritual treasure had been entrusted to the apostle Paul that he wished to share with the Christians in Rome. It did not come from his own abilities or knowledge. What he wished to impart to them he had himself received...More
