The mystery of life

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skilfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Psalm 139:13–15

The mystery of life
Life is a deep and fascinating mystery which has intrigued many researchers over the centuries. Each newborn child has unique traits: no human being is identical to another! Incredible changes occur between conception and birth: from the fertilised egg, a single cell, gradually thousands of billions of new cells form a human body. The newborn child is not only a living creature, it is a human being. Its body is very important, but it has also received a soul from God, that is to say the immaterial part of his being. It is now a living person who possesses life as a whole, and it is unique with its manifold capabilities. It has a soul which is immortal and is therefore most precious to God: “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” said Jesus (Matthew 16:26).

What does that mean: to lose one’s own soul? If we live our life without God here on earth, then we will have to spend a whole eternity separated from Him – a dreadful thought. On the contrary, to believe what God says, to accept His offer of redemption in Christ Jesus and to live according to His thoughts, results in present and eternal joy for the soul, because God created humans to know Him and to live happily with Him eternally. It is still a mystery which surely cannot leave any of us indifferent. “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3).

Yes, God is great as Creator, and He is great as Saviour!

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
