When Christ enters the heart

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3:20

When Christ enters the heart
We saw yesterday that Jesus Christ was rejected by men and crucified. That is why He left the earth and returned to heaven. When He appears a second time, everyone will have to acknowledge Him as the ruler of the world. Under His righteous government there will be peace.

In the meantime – while He is still denied universal recognition – He is knocking on the door of individual hearts. Through the gospel, He presents Himself as the Saviour who can fundamentally change your life and mine for the better. He is ready to take away the burden of our guilt before God and help us make a real fresh start. However, this requires that we personally believe in Him, open the door to Him, and acknowledge Him as our Lord.

When we open our hearts to the Lord Jesus and surrender the control of our lives to Him, we experience His nearness and fellowship. Although we cannot see Him, He is with us. We can share everything we experience with Him. He always has an open ear for us. This encourages us to pray to Him freely in every situation and to tell Him everything that concerns us.

Jesus Christ speaks to us through the Bible. He shows us who He is and how we can please Him. The deeper the impressions of His glorious person on us, the easier it is for us to obey Him.

Today’s reading: Isaiah 43:8-28 · Hebrews 8:1-6

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
