Preserved by God

For You have delivered my soul from death. Have You not kept my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
Psalm 56:13

Preserved by God
More than 100 years ago, a train was travelling through England on a dark and foggy night. The driver was extremely alert. Suddenly he saw a black figure in the middle of the track, waving his arms violently. He quickly pulled the emergency brake, and the train came to a screeching halt. The driver and the stoker hurriedly got off the locomotive. Both shouted into the fog but received no response. The conductor and some passengers also came running, but nothing moved in the mist in front of the train.

“Better safe than sorry,” said the grey-haired driver and ordered the conductor to look along the tracks with the lantern to see if everything was all right. Soon he came running back, out of breath. Haltingly, he reported that the bridge in front of them had collapsed. Only a few hundred metres further and the whole train would have fallen into the river with its passengers.

So who had been the warning voice on that dark night? This mystery was only cleared up later: a large moth had become stuck on the headlight of the locomotive. The animal had been attracted by the light and had tried to free itself with its wildly flapping wings. The back-and-forth movement of the wings in the light of the lamp projected itself onto the wall of fog and appeared to the locomotive driver like a person waving their arms in warning. None other than our great God had sent the insect to save the lives of these people.

Today’s reading: Isaiah 48:9-22 · Hebrews 10:31-39

CONDESCEND!

After seeing their plight, hearing their cries and feeling their pains, God came down to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. Our God is a mobile God. He comes down to deliver His own. As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
