Hearing

He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Matthew 11:15

Hearing
The human hearing system is ingeniously designed. The ear picks up the vibrations of acoustic signals, which are then processed into information in the brain. Together with the eye, the ear is the most important organ of perception that God has given us. “The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both” (Proverbs 20:12).

All human beings are responsible to listen to what the Creator has to say to them, so that they will not be lost. That is why God calls to us in Isaiah 55:3, “Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live”. At the same time, the Son of God promises us, “He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life” (John 5:24). Hearing with the ear is to be followed by believing with the heart, so that God can accomplish the work of salvation, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).

This begins a new life of listening and obeying. As we read the Bible, we hear God speaking to us. Through this we receive instruction, correction and encouragement for the journey of faith. We can now follow in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus, who once let His own ear be opened every day to be instructed by God. But hearing is not enough. God expects us to also obey His Word. Only then can our life of faith develop healthily.

Today’s reading: Zephaniah 1:1-18 · Mark 10:32-45

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
