Repentance and faith

Testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 20:21

Repentance and faith
Do you want to get your life right with God and be saved for eternity? In order for this desire to come true, it is necessary that you repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. What does the Bible mean by this?

– Repentance means a change of thinking about sin, a change of our attitude. It is admitting that we are sinners and enemies of God. We have to see the evil and wrong we have done as God judges it. He hates every lie, detests every evil desire. How filthy and repulsive our transgressions are!

Repentance also means forsaking evil and becoming willing to live as it pleases God. This requires a consistent turning away from the wrong way to the living God.

– Believing in the Lord Jesus means acknowledging that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He became man and that He laid down His life for sinners on the cross. It also means believing in His power and love, for He can and will save us. Finally, faith in the Saviour involves giving up our own attempts at salvation and trusting Him completely.

If God has made you aware of your lost condition and you desire to be saved, confess your sins to Him. Turn in faith to Jesus Christ who paid your debt on the cross and you will receive a deep and lasting peace.

Today’s reading: Malachi 2:1-17 · Mark 15:40-47

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
