A Frenchman through shed blood

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
Hebrews 9:12

A Frenchman through shed blood
A soldier of the French Foreign Legion can acquire French citizenship after three years of service. But if he is wounded in the course of or on the occasion of a mission, it can be awarded to him earlier. He then becomes a son of France – not because, like a Frenchman, he “received” French blood through his birth, so to speak, but through his own shed blood.

Likewise, one becomes a Christian through shed blood. No, not by shedding one’s own blood, but by the blood of Jesus Christ. Peter writes to those who have believed: “You were not redeemed with corruptible things … but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” And John writes: “The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” Yes, His blood had to be shed, because “without shedding of blood, there is no remission” (1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7; Hebrews 9:22).

The Lord Jesus Christ did not offer the blood of animals – but having voluntarily given up His own life, His blood was then shed so that sin could be atoned for and people could be saved. Thus, He made access to God and fellowship with God based on a once-for-all-time solid and sufficient foundation. There is nothing more to add to His death, and His sacrifice need never be repeated – He has “obtained eternal redemption”.

Can you already say, “I am redeemed by the precious blood of Christ”?

Today’s reading: Exodus 25:23-40 · Luke 9:51-62

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
