Sent, come and came forth

I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.
John 8:42

Sent, come and came forth
The Bible uses three different expressions to describe how the Son of God came to earth as a man. When we reflect on them, we are once again aware of the wonder of His unfathomable person:

1. “The works which the Father has given Me to finish … bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me” (John 5:36). The Son allowed Himself to be sent by the Father to earth to proclaim a message from Him and to fulfil His mission. Therefore, He was willing to take a subject position to the Father as a man. As an envoy, He represented the rights and interests of His God and Father.

2. “I have come in My Father’s name” (John 5:43). The Son came voluntarily to live as a man on earth and to do the will of the Father. Of His own accord, He wanted to serve and obey His God and Father here. Therefore, He declared, “Behold, I have come – in the volume of the book it is written of Me – to do Your will, O God” (Hebrews 10:7).

3. “I came forth from the Father” (John 16:28). The Son was completely one with His Father in love and power when He went out from Him to come into the world. He came from the wonderful fellowship with the Father to encounter the hostility of mankind against God here, yet always enjoying communion with His Father.

Today’s reading: Exodus 32:21-35 · Luke 13:31-35

THE BREVITY OF TIME

How recklessly this age speeds to self destruction! The word of God is accurate and authentic in its prediction of the latter end of the world and in warning His saints of the end times, so that they are not overtaken by the prevalence of evil in this age! In virtually every facet of life, there is an overturning...More
