Complete surrender

So Jesus said to Peter, put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?
John 18:11

Complete surrender
When the enemies came to arrest Jesus in Gethsemane, Peter defended his Master. He drew his sword and cut off the right ear of the servant of the high priest. What did the Lord do? He healed the wounded and thus rectified the damage caused by His disciple. Then He told Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath.” How great was His grace for both the servant who confronted Him and Peter, who wanted to defend Him with misguided zeal!

Even more impressive are His subsequent words: “Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given me?” The Lord Jesus did not focus on the hostile crowd but on His Father. He had accepted the cup of bitter suffering from Him to drink it on the cross. He wanted to accept everything that would happen to Him on the way there.

Jesus was willing to completely submit to His Father’s will and obey Him unto death on the cross. Therefore, He did not defend Himself when the soldiers arrested Him. Consequently, He endured unjust trials, mockery and beatings. On the cross, He endured the atoning suffering in divine judgment. There, He drank the cup given to Him by the Father. How great was His distress in being forsaken by God! Nevertheless, He endured until everything was accomplished.

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
