Zacchaeus

And he sought to see who Jesus was.
Luke 19:3

Zacchaeus
Zacchaeus had achieved something in his life: he had become a wealthy chief tax collector. But neither money nor his professional success could fulfil all his desires. When he heard that Jesus, the Son of God, was coming to Jericho, he wanted to get to know Him. – Are you also under the impression that possessions and success ultimately don’t make you happy?

People obstructed Zacchaeus’ view of Jesus because they were taller than him. But this determined man overcame this obstacle. He wasn’t afraid of people’s opinions but simply climbed up a sycamore tree. – Whenever you want to get to know the Lord Jesus Christ because you sense that He can give you what you long for, people will get in your way and try to stop you. Don’t let them deter you! Overcome your fear of people and start reading the Bible! In this book, you’ll find out who Jesus Christ really is.

When Jesus came to the tree where Zacchaeus was, He looked up and spoke to him: “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house” (Luke 19:5). Zacchaeus joyfully welcomed Jesus into his house and believed in Him.

The Lord Jesus Christ knows if you are seeking a relationship with Him. Just as He met the tax collector Zacchaeus back then, He wants to meet you today. Of course, no visible figure will appear to you, yet He wants to reveal Himself to you and come into your life. The four gospels provide detailed accounts of Him, so that everyone has the opportunity to be convinced of the uniqueness of this person. But it mustn’t remain a casual reading. When we recognise Him as the Saviour and entrust ourselves to Him, we will realise that He Himself is the answer to all our questions and desires.

Today’s reading: Leviticus 15:1-33 · Psalms 63:1-11
