Three short appeals

… rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer …
Romans 12:12

Three short appeals
o “Rejoicing in hope.” As believing Christians, we are heading towards a glorious future. The Lord Jesus will come again and take us to Himself in heaven. We will be with Him eternally and see Him as He is. This Christian hope is not vague or indefinite. From the Bible, we know for certain that the best is yet to come! So, we have the assurance that our expectations will be fulfilled. The thought of this evokes genuine and lasting joy in our hearts.

o “Patient in tribulation.” On the way to our heavenly goal, we encounter many difficulties. We face situations that press upon us inwardly and outwardly. We may suffer from a severe illness or experience family problems. Perhaps we struggle with difficulties at work or within the family of God. In such times of distress, the Lord wants us to persevere in Him and remain faithful. He gives us the strength to do so.

o “Continuing steadfastly in prayer.” In our troubles on our way to heaven, God gives us a great resource: prayer. Access to Him is open at all times. We can always pray to our Father in heaven. Instead of letting worries overwhelm us, let us pour out our burdened hearts before Him. Often, the difficult situation won’t improve instantly. Shall we then continue to pray with perseverance?

Today’s reading: Leviticus 23:1-22 · Psalms 68:28-35

NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

There is a nature that is of the Earth and there is a nature that is of Heaven. Since the fall of man, the earthly nature of man has become corrupted and therefore is greatly under the influence of the kingdom of Satan. Characteristic features of this nature are: wickedness, moral perversion - sodomy and all sorts of...More
