The position of the believer

So also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
Romans 5:19

The position of the believer
In respect to a believing Christian, the Bible refers to “position” as the standing that a person holds before God after his conversion. Before, he was a lost sinner deserving divine judgment. Through repentance towards God and through being born again, he has now become a child of God. He has come to know God as his loving Father and he belongs to the family of God. His future home is the Father’s house, where divine love resides.

Therefore, the position of a believer before God encompasses everything that has been given to him through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus. He has personally believed in the Saviour and has thus been placed in this perfect position before God. He may not yet fully know or comprehend the extent of it. Nevertheless, it remains completely true that, having been justified by faith, he stands before God and is His beloved child.

The position of the believer before God is eternally secure and permanent. Having been accepted by God and having become one of His children, he cannot be lost again. The Bible testifies to this multiple times, for example:

o “For by one offering He has perfected for ever those who are … sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14)
o “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:28)

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
