And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
John 10:28

In today’s verse, Jesus speaks about people who believe in Him. They have confessed their sins before God and accepted the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. As a result, they have become sheep of the good shepherd. They belong to Him. What He assures them of fills their hearts with joy and certainty.

“I give them eternal life.” Saved individuals now possess eternal life and will always retain it. Therefore, death has lost its terror for them. It may be a dark gate, but it leads to eternal glory. Yet, this life is not only of endless duration. It is also of the highest quality. All who possess it are in a happy relationship with God. They know Him as their Father who loves them.
“They shall never perish.” People who believe in the Lord Jesus possess eternal salvation. Because He bore the punishment for them, they will not face divine judgment. They have experienced the forgiveness of their sins and have been declared righteous by God.
If they sin – which unfortunately can still happen – they grieve their God and Father. But their salvation is never called into question because of it.

“Neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” Believers are eternally secure and sheltered in the hand of the Son of God. No enemy can snatch them from His hand. He will hold onto His own in every situation.
