Impressions
Through our behaviour, we leave certain impressions on those who observe us. Usually, we strive to make a good impression. It’s even better if the impressions we convey point people around us to the Lord Jesus.

Daniel gives us an clear example of this in the sixth chapter of his book:

o At first, King Darius was impressed by Daniel’s abilities. He recognised that Daniel, as a high official, surpassed all others. He respected him for his wisdom in conducting government affairs.

o When his colleagues became jealous of Daniel and sought a charge against him, his reliability was revealed. In everything he did, they found no wrongdoing or fault. King Darius could rely one hundred percent on Daniel.

o After the king had decreed that for thirty days, no one should request anything from any god or human, Daniel remained faithful to his God and continued to pray to Him three times a day. He feared what would happen if he stopped praying more than the threatened punishment.

o When Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, God protected him. He remained alive and was not harmed. Why? Because he had trusted in his God! Through Daniel’s behaviour, the king learned about the great, almighty God.
