The way to life

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Matthew 7:13-14; 1 John 5:13

The way to life
I once read the following sentence in an obituary notice: "He has left us and taken his worries and secrets with him." What details might lie behind these words? Involuntarily, we wonder what that person actually took with him into eternity. But another more urgent question should ensue: what will I take with me into eternity?
Shall I take the multitude of sins that I have piled up during my life? If I haven't acknowledged them and confessed them before God so far, then my guilt has not yet been obliterated through God's grace. Those sins are all written down in God's record of my guilt. Whoever dies without obtaining the forgiveness of his sins will be excluded forever from God's presence. It is impossible to enter heaven with a load of sins. "There shall by no means enter it anything that defiles or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life" (Revelation 21:17).
For this reason, the Bible tells us urgently to take refuge in Jesus. If we frankly confess all the guilt of our life to Him and trust Him, we can lead our life without any fear of death. We have the assurance that Christ died for our sins and will one day receive us in His glory (cf ).
Today's reading: Ezekiel ch. 20 vv. 1-26

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
