From darkness to light (5)

And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
2 Chronicles 15:2

From darkness to light (5)

"Ralph, Jesus loves you, too!" my friend told me. 99 out of 100 people would have treated those words just like any other sentence uttered; I didn't though. Somehow I knew: this time it is serious. I sensed that that sentence had come from Jesus purposely for me. The impression that God was now speaking to me was overwhelming. Until then I had always remained "cool", but now I couldn't restrain my tears. I recognised the greatness of the love of God, who had been following me throughout my life even in the pit and the miry clay in order to reach and save me with His merciful love.
How did I react? Hardly with trust, rather with doubt. My friend and I went to his room; there I prayed, "God, if you exist, show yourself to me!"
My friend said, "God has heard your prayer. He will answer you." And He did, albeit not as I had imagined. God's ways are always higher than our ways. That also applied in my case. What happened?
At first I felt that it was impossible to return to the sphere where my "friends" could influence me. In other words: I could not go back to that guru temple, otherwise I should be influenced by those who had enticed me on to that false pathway. Taking the consequence was not easy.
I felt that there were invisible evil, spiritual powers behind that false religion and its practices.
But God has answered my prayer!
(to be continued on Monday)
Today's reading: Ezekiel ch.47

Not I but Christ

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
