The treadmill...

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
Titus 3:3

The small hamster is running non-stop in its revolving wheel. How boring! Occasionally, it takes a short rest, then the whole procedure starts again.
Formerly, a treadwheel was bitter reality for many people. With its constant revolving work process it was suitable for many tasks. Even today this monotonous system of work is used in many developing countries to irrigate farmland. The concept of the "treadmill" has become a proverbial expression for stupid, unchanging activity.
How many people still actually suffer from such soul-destroying work today? Isn't rather the case that pleasure has become a daily treadmill? We are not thinking about the different hobbies that exist nowadays, although several are unacceptable, indeed reprehensible for God. Are we aware that one distraction simply must replace another. People are insatiable, and the hamster's wheel turns on and on. How boring!
What do we really get from our amusements? And who actually compels us to plunge into them again and again without gaining any satisfaction from them?
They say that people need enjoyment. They are right. But genuine, permanent joy cannot be found in this way. This is what we wish to point out. For true joy, an untroubled conscience is necessary. This can be obtained solely in connection with God and not with Jesus Christ. Through His vicarious sacrifice at the cross, troubled persons can be relieved of the pressure of their bad conscience. And because God knows no change, their joy will never diminish.
Today's reading: 1 Timothy 2

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
