Thoughts on the book of Acts (186)

And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in
the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the
pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But
rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a
minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the
which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom
now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power
of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which
are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Acts 26:14-18

Thoughts on the book of Acts (186)
Paul had refused to believe that Jesus was the Messiah and had risen from the dead and was alive.
He was not persuaded by a chain of arguments but by the fact itself: his own encounter with the
risen Lord.
In this third report of the change in his life, Paul told Agrippa and Festus of the commission
the Lord had given him to the Gentiles. The heathen lived in darkness and needed light about God
Himself and the way of salvation. Through sin they were under the power of Satan and needed to be
freed from it. They would receive forgiveness of their sins, if they turned to God. And they
would share the rich, eternal inheritance reserved for believers.
Thus out of the Pharisee who had fought for the Jews' special privileges, Paul had become the
apostle for the nations of the world.
(to be continued next Sunday)
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 5:6, 1-9

THE GREAT DELIVERER

God is great but He humbles Himself to the level of His children to deliver them. The one who will deliver you must be stronger than the enemy holding you captive. The reason He is able to deliver is because He is stronger than all your enemies put together. This is why in

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
