Then she heard of Jesus...

And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Mark 5:34

That woman had been suffering from abnormal bleeding for twelve years. In her desperation, she had consulted one doctor after another and tried various remedies. Meanwhile, she had spent all that she had and experienced not the slightest healing. On the contrary, her suffering had worsened. Then she heard of Jesus, who called on people to turn to God and who healed so many sick persons. And He was in the district. She set off at once, probably thinking, "if He has cured others, then He can also cure me."
As she approached, the woman noticed a great crowd surrounding Jesus. Resolutely, she forced her way to Him, stretched out her hand and touched His clothes. "That will do to get well," was her conviction. She didn't consider the method of healing; she trusted the Son of God and His power. And to be sure, she had hardly touched His clothes, when her disease was gone.
Relieved, she planned to withdraw quietly. But Jesus turned around and asked, "Who touched me?" . The woman sensed that she couldn't remain unnoticed and owned up. She fell at His feet and told Him the whole sad story. Then she heard His kind words: "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."
She had grasped that Jesus was no prophet or miracle healer, but the Son of God who had power to heal even her. Her trouble attracted her to Him, and faith gave her the courage to actually go to Him.
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 17:1-27

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
