Slavery

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Ephesians 1:7; John 8:31-32

Slavery
Born in the United States in 1811, Harriet Beecher Stowe became an orphan very early in life. At the age of twenty, she settled in Ohio where she met her husband and had the great sorrow of losing a small boy through cholera. She asked the Lord to allow this trouble to enable her to do good to others.
At that time, the country was divided between the supporters of slavery and those, like herself and her family, who denounced it. As her house was situated on the road to freedom in the direction of Canada, Harriet was able to take several fugitives. Appalled by the slave traffic and their inhuman living conditions, she wrote several articles in a newspaper, then dedicated a book to their cause: "Uncle Tom's Cabin". That book which described the sad condition of slaves realistically had an enormous success.
Once they reached Canada, those slaves were free; their masters had no further power over them.
Whether they were aware of it or not, all human beings are in bondage to their desires, and even to the devil. But whoever believes in the Lord Jesus finds liberty, because Jesus purchased it at the cost of His own blood shed on the cross.
He purchased us for Himself. Through grace we have been liberated from what was holding us captive. We are truly free. More than that, we belong to Christ, our powerful Redeemer, who loved us.
Today's reading: 2 Samuel 24

SUBSTITUTION

"The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead. "

At oftentimes, if a particular incident that has been slated against the righteous must surely be carried out, God gives the captor...More
