“Are you saved?”

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:31

When some Christians are asked the direct question, "Are you saved?" they unfortunately often hear the answer that nobody can really know; it will be revealed when God judges mankind.
Many pardoned sinners, on the other hand, who have truly been converted to God, give their testimony of His grace and testify that they are absolutely assured of their salvation through Christ. Then there are religious persons, who seek their salvation in their piety; they consider such an assertion presumptuous and a sign of spiritual pride.
No-one should be influenced by such objections, we must hear what the Word of God says. When the Philippian jailer asked in his anxiety, "What must I do to be saved?" he received the reply: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved."
Then again, we read in the Holy Scripture: "To him (i.e. the Lord Jesus Christ) all the prophets witness that through his name, whoever believes in him will receive remission of sins" (Acts 10:43).
What does the Lord Himself say? "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in him who sent me, has everlasting life and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life" (John 5:24).
It is certainly not presumption when someone who sincerely believes in the Son of God says humbly but with assurance: "I know that my redeemer lives" (Job 19:25). He is rightly convinced that he has been saved through God's grace, because "the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
Today's reading: Acts 9:1-22

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
