Conversion – from death to life (3)

You he made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins. You also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:1; Romans 6:11

Conversion - from death to life (3)
Conversion brings about radical changes. Passing from death to life is probably the best example. When the Lord Jesus was here on earth, He brought three persons who had already died back to life: a girl aged 12 (Mark 5, 35 - 43) and ordered that she should be given something to eat; then a young man about to be buried who immediately spoke (Luke 7, 11 - 15), an act of mercy, the mother being a widow, and finally an older man who already lay in a tomb (John 11, 1 - 46). This case was a sign for those who refused to acknowledge Him as the Son of God.

We who have been brought from spiritual death to eternal life need spiritual food to sustain the new life given us. This we find in God's Word, the Bible. Moreover; we can testify to our new life by our works, revealing the power of the Son of God in our daily conduct.

Physical death is "the wages of sin" (Romans 6, 23). None can escape it, for "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3, 23). But the Lord Jesus Christ came to earth "that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10, 10). The life that He gives is a power that enables us to live to please Him, overcoming evil. The Lord Jesus told Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, that he needed to be "born again". This is the way to "pass from death into life" (John 5, 24). Please read chapter 3 of John's gospel.

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
