Many people today have unfortunately...

Their conscience bearing witness and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them.
Romans 2:15

Many people today have unfortunately closed their ears to the voice of their conscience. How could they else sleep peacefully in their estrangement from God, instead of being plagued by the question how they can get right with God?

On this subject the following anecdote is told: "A judge asks the counsel for the defence, "Have you anything to say in favour of the accused?" - "Yes," replies the lawyer, "I request that in finding the verdict you take into account my client's deafness. He did not hear the voice of his conscience."

This joke, of course, has a serious background. It is not a matter of physical hearing, but of a nagging conscience, that many subdue or stifle completely - a fateful matter.

Sometimes that voice prods us, unwanted and unexpectedly. Then forgotten experiences suddenly emerge: unfaithfulness, dishonesty, envy, evil thoughts etc..

Then, at the latest, it is time to heed "God's advocate", as the conscience has been named, and inquire about the way of escape. Everything can be put in order, even the worst offences, and that before the supreme Judge, God Himself. For this reason He sent Jesus Christ, His Son, to atone for our sins. But we must believe in Him, confessing our sins unreservedly (cf. 1 John 4, 10; 1, 9).

This is a tremendous offer by God. The question is: will you accept it?

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would be given an understanding in "the mystery of the kingdom of God." He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
