God’s way with Lazarus (6)

Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
John 11:41

God's way with Lazarus (6)
Weeping, Jesus stood at the tomb of His friend Lazarus with the sorrowful sisters and many Jews. All eyes were on Him when He commanded: "Take away the stone!" Martha had her reservations. "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days." Corruption had set in.

Jesus, however, looked up towards heaven and prayed aloud to His Father. The multitude should know clearly that God had sent Him to earth. Then He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!" And Lazarus emerged from the tomb still wrapped in grave clothes. What a powerful proof that Jesus was truly the Son of God!

Let us summarize a few significant points from John ch. 11:

God wants only the best for us. If He permits suffering in our life, then His glory is finally to be revealed all the more in us. Even if we fail to understand God's ways with us, we should hold firmly to His boundless love towards us.

Whoever dies believing in the Lord Jesus "falls asleep". When Jesus returns for the believers, all, including those deceased will be taken to heaven with the living Christ. Whoever accepts the Lord Jesus as Saviour obtains eternal life. That makes him fit for heaven. This enables us to live to honour God.

Jesus Christ is true God and true Man in one Person. He is the Lord over life and death; but He is also full of sympathy for all who mourn and suffer. He Himself experienced bitter suffering as a Man.

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
