A Chinese Christian had been arrested...

When they bring you to the magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.
Luke 12:11.12

A Chinese Christian had been arrested on account of his faith and spent a long time in prison. Finally he stood before a judge.

"Do you still believe in Christianity?" the judge asked contemptuously. The man replied, "It is not Christianity that I believe in."

"No? What then?" - "I believe in Jesus Christ, not in a religion, but in a Person," the believer answered.

"Stop splitting hairs!" was the judge's retort.

"You haven't understood me," replied the Christian. "You can close the churches, cast the Christians into prison or even kill them; and you can forbid the services and burn the Bibles. But can you touch Jesus Christ? He lives for ever. He lives in my heart. You cannot drive Him out. If you kill me, I shall be with Him for ever!"

The Christian had indicated an essential difference. A religion is a system of rituals and convictions of man's devising. It influences the social and cultural environment, but is encumbered by errors and human weaknesses.

Biblical faith, on the other hand, is a real, personal relationship with the living God and His Son Jesus Christ. It incorporates knowing Christ, believing in Him, trusting Him, loving Him and living for Him.

MEAL OF REMEMBRANCE

The Holy Communion is a very significant meal. Unlike regular meals, it a meal of remembrance. When some people take this meal, they forget to heed the instruction in today's Bible reading where the Lord repeatedly said "this do in remembrance of Me". In other words, the meal reminds us of God's power of...More
