The door of grace

Where is the way to the dwelling of light? I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved.
Job 38:19; John 10:9

The door of grace
The dwelling of light is heaven, the Father's house, a place of sheer joy where Jesus the Saviour is to be found surrounded by a multitude of angels. Who would not wish to go there?

But where is the gate to heaven? There is only one, and it is narrow (cf. Matthew 7, 13); it is the door of grace. Entry is through the mediation of one Person. A Christian mother cannot make her children enter with her. She can show them the way and pray for them, but access is personal.

To enter one needs a key that opens the gate. In the course of ages people have forged hundreds under various names: good works, a pilgrimage, self-inflicted sufferings, various sacrifices and even the gift of life. But none of them opens the gate of heaven. The only way is with the key of personal faith. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" (Acts 16, 31). "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3, 16). We are saved by grace through faith (cf. Ephesians 2, 8).

God opened the gate by accepting Jesus' coming down to earth to bear the punishment that our sins deserved. God grants grace to all who approach Him trusting in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. That is entering by Jesus, who is Himself the door.

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More

Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read...More
