One of the Beatles’ best known songs was...

God is love.
1 John 4:8

One of the Beatles' best known songs was "All you need is love". How true this is! Without love no-one can live. Without love we waste away. But what is true love, and where can it be found? That is the problem. Whoever is hungry for love greedily seizes whatever is on offer as "love", and finally discovers that he has been deceived. When people speak of love, they really mean lust or sentimentality. There are those who mean love sincerely when they talk of it, but in practice it proves to be lacking.

There is a love that never deceives or disappoints. It is not just empty words but reality. It is

God's love, the love that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, brought into the world. He did not

merely speak about it; He acted accordingly. He sought out people who had no hope. Those who had strayed furthest He brought back. He did not "come to be served, but to serve"

(Mark10, 45).

Finally He gave Himself as a sacrifice. He died, giving His life as a ransom for sinners. Since He was sinless, God was able to accept His sacrifice. So we see genuine love at the cross of Calvary where Jesus Christ hung. There we shall not be deceived. Do we long for such love that never dies? God has proved His love towards us!

"God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (1 John 4, 8 - 10).

SOCIAL DEVIANTS!
