The Church invincible

This is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. Christ loved the church and gave himself for her, that she should be holy and without blemish.
1 John 5:4; Ephesians 5:25.27

The Church invincible
In a Chinese town the authorities once had all the Bibles and Christian literature burned. But Bibles are thick books that burn slowly; so a spectator managed to tear a page from one as it burned away.

As a result the underground church in that town had only one page of Holy Scripture at its disposal for years. It was the page on which the apostle Peter, after declaring that Jesus is the Son of the living God, hears the response: "On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16, 18). One can experience the reality of such a promise, even when the fury of a totalitarian government is unleashed against the believers. From the beginning the Church, the sum of believers in Jesus Christ, has had countless enemies wanting to destroy it, from the Roman emperors to the anti-Christian governments of today. The empires have passed, but the Church has remained, sometimes hiding or submitting to persecution. It also suffers from mockery and blasphemy in prosperous countries where immorality and arrogance reign. But the Church is on the side of Jesus, the glorified Victor in heaven. Therefore it patiently awaits the return of the Lord. "Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world. Hold fast what you have, that no-one may take your crown" (Revelation 3, 10.11).

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

A DISTINCTIVE FAITH

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
