The rapture of the believers

The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:16.17

The rapture of the believers
This will be an extraordinary and unique occurrence: the Lord will descend from heaven and, without putting His feet on the earth that rejected Him, will call with authority all whom He has redeemed. Believers who are dead will be raised, those living will be transformed in a moment. And all together, in new, glorified bodies, will be caught up to the clouds to meet the Lord, who will bring them into the Father's house (1 Corinthians 15, 51 - 53).

Can we imagine the anguish and consternation of those who, suddenly and without seeing anything, affirm the disappearance of parents, friends or neighbours? Maybe you have heard of Christ's return and the judgment to come.

The day of God's grace will end as suddenly as that. Will those left on the earth have time to turn to Him? No, that will be impossible, as Jesus indicated in the parable. Only those who were ready entered, "and the door was shut" (Matthew 25, 10).

Are you ready? Have you turned to Jesus, the Saviour, to receive the forgiveness of your sins? There is still time to ensure being found among those to be raised at Christ's return, but the time available may be measured in years, months, or only minutes!

"Today, if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts" (Hebrews 4, 7).

Today's reading: 2 John vv. 1 - 13

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
