The angel’s message (3)

This will be the sign to you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.
Luke 2:12 - 14

The angel's message (3)
A baby and nappies: there was nothing unusual about that. Babies are born and tended like that every day, though seldom laid in a manger to sleep. Some are born in the most unexpected places.

What was so special about this particular birth? The unique thing was that God became Man! That had never happened before, nor will it ever be repeated. Our great, inconceivable and almighty God became a human being. That tiny Child in the manger who was dependent on his parents' love and care was, at the same time, the Son of God, who had created the world. It was a miracle, unimaginable and indescribable.

The moment of His birth: "when the fullness of the time had come" (Galatians 4, 4).

The reason for His birth: "God so loved the world" (John 3, 16).

The revelation of His birth: "The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared" (Titus 2, 11).

The wonder of His birth: "The Word was made flesh" (John 1, 14).

The angels saw God in that small child and could not remain silent: they praised Him. He, who was "manifested in the flesh, (was) seen by angels" (1 Timothy 3, 16).

The wonder of the incarnation is worthy of our consideration and adoration.

(to be continued tomorrow)

Today's reading: Deuteronomy ch. 1, vv. 22 - 46

IS YOUR VISA READY?

Speaking of aspirations and ambitions in life, if all you can achieve on earth is for your name to enter and remain in the most important book in the universe - the Book of Life, it is worth it. On the Day of Judgment, many whose names were in earth's halls of fame will be shown the way to the eternal lake of fire...More

BE STRONG

You don't charge someone to be strong if there is no task to be performed or if pressure is not required, either for motion or putting up resistance against an opposing force. In the physical realm, mere movement requires strength. This explains why a sick person or a person just recovering from an ailment finds it...More

God often proves to be other than people think...

Acts 5:4-5

God often proves to be other than people think. Here, for example, death struck a man suddenly for lying before God. Is God therefore severe, when he makes use of His power unreservedly towards the weak?
Let us first briefly examine what preceded this judgment. Holy zeal for the...More
