The gospel is news that never grows old...

The gospel of Christ is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.
Romans 1:16

The gospel is news that never grows old. In contrast to most news, that concerning Jesus Christ loses nothing of its value through age. Most of what we take in of the daily news is short-lived. Only rarely does it concern us personally. And often it merely satisfies our curiosity.

We may discuss items of current news with others, if they affect us. Catastrophes may occupy us and stir up our emotions. At some stage, however, they, too, fall into oblivion.

Whoever looks over the survey of the past year in the newspaper on the 31st December will automatically think: "Ah yes, that happened. How quickly I forgot it!" Today's events wash over yesterday's and make them insignificant.

This is not the case with the gospel. It is not an item of the latest news. As time advances, it becomes all the more urgent. At all times the gospel is highly topical. Most news concerns other people; the gospel affects us personally. The message comes at the right time with a content that corresponds to our situation. Through the gospel God tells us that He sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save sinners.

Why stumble through another year without putting things right for ourselves with God? The gospel is the power to turn everything to the good for now and eternity. The validity of the verse: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" applies to today. Next year may prove to be too late.

Today's reading: Deuteronomy ch. 9

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
