What people say about God is confusing. Many...

The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.
Psalm 53:1

What people say about God is confusing. Many dispute that God even exists. Others acknowledge His existence, but have various personal conceptions of Him. Is God a totally mysterious being who cannot be known by anyone? Doesn't God care about His creatures, or at any rate about the details of their lives? Mankind endeavours to come to terms with such questions, when he formulates his thoughts regarding God from his own point of view.

In our daily meditations we prefer to proceed from the revelation that God has given concerning Himself, for we are convinced that the living God has done so in His Son, Jesus Christ, in His death and resurrection. And the Bible is the reliable documentation as a trustworthy testimony of the facts of salvation. God Himself tells us in the Bible who He is and what He is:

God knows each one of us, our thoughts, ways and words (Psalm 139:1-4).
God is omnipotent; nothing is beyond Him (Job 42:2).
God is everywhere; no-one can hide from Him (Jeremiah 23:23.24).
God is unchanging, both in His being and in His pronouncements (Malachi 3:6; James 1:17; Isaiah 40:8).
God is eternal without beginning or end (Isaiah 40:28).
God is holy and cannot tolerate sin (Isaiah 6:3; Habakkuk 1:13).
God is love. His wish for us is expressed in the verse: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16; 1 John 4:8).
Let us thank God for this revelation of Himself!

MEAL OF REMEMBRANCE

The Holy Communion is a very significant meal. Unlike regular meals, it a meal of remembrance. When some people take this meal, they forget to heed the instruction in today's Bible reading where the Lord repeatedly said "this do in remembrance of Me". In other words, the meal reminds us of God's power of...More
