Leave me in peace!

In those days... everyone did what was right in his own eyes. There would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.
Judges 17:6; Jude 18

Leave me in peace!
Jesus Christ's teaching in the gospels is characterised by love, grace and truth. With wisdom and moral authority He seeks to turn men's thoughts to God so that they believe and repent.

People refused to receive Him. They insulted Him; God did not insult them. They treated Him like a fool or one possessed of a devil; God did not interfere. They took Him, judged Him and scourged Him; God withheld His anger. They nailed Him to a cross, killing Him within sight of all; God did not intervene to deliver Him.

Jesus Christ is not physically present in today's world, but many act in the same way, just as if they were saying: "Leave us in peace!" Are you one of them? You can ignore Him, despise Him, insult Him or reject His Word, as they did then. God will not act against it. You can mock His offer of salvation, hate all Christians; it will not prevent God from lovingly beseeching you to turn to Him, regretting your past far from Him. He asks you to believe in Jesus Christ's sacrifice to save you.

You prefer to be left in peace and also that no-one should be so insistent. However, there are times when one must be warned of danger. Perhaps that is your predicament today. God is graciously waiting for you. Do not try His patience. Tomorrow may prove too late. And, sadly, you fail to realise that you will be lost for time and eternity.

Today's reading: Exodus 32:15-24 · Luke 13:31-35

It may be that Jehovah will look on mine affliction, and that Jehovah will requite me good for my being cursed this day. And David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast...More
