Obedience

Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.
Jeremiah 7:23

Obedience
There is no clearer evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit than obedience towards the Word of God. Simple, submissive obedience totally silences every ungodly voice that seeks to lead believers along a pathway that cannot please God, as the example of the Lord Jesus shows: when tempted by the devil in the wilderness, He remained obedient to His Father, so that the enemy had to retreat.

Obedience towards God is right and proper for mankind, for he is His creature. Were it otherwise, God's authority would cease to be supreme. The converse of obedience can be defined as follows: carrying out one's own will without considering God and His Word. For a Christian blessing ensues only when we obey, as Jesus Christ repeatedly affirmed:

"He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him" (John 14:21).

"If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love" (John 15:10).

If we think constant obedience is too demanding, then our old nature dictates our conduct. The question is: do we want to satisfy our own self-will or please God? Let us remember: we shall experience true joy only when we judge sin and obey the Lord.

Today's reading: Exodus 36:35-37:16 · Luke 17:11-19

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
