Thoughts on the Epistle to the Romans (136)

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:11

Thoughts on the Epistle to the Romans (136)
On account of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ a believer is "in Christ Jesus", and "there is therefore now no condemnation" for him (v.1). His soul has been saved (cf. 1 Peter 1:9).

Christ's victory will also have its effect on the believer's mortal body at his resurrection. It is still indwelt by sin and therefore still subject to illness and mortality. But Christ's work of redemption applies to the whole human being.

The believer's body is already now "the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you". So Christians are encouraged to "glorify God in your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19.20). We are to repulse any self-willed or sinful stirring in our body (cf. Romans 8:13).

The Holy Spirit who dwells in the believer is the guarantee of all that is promised him in eternal glory (Ephesians 1:14). He assures the believer of the resurrection of his mortal body.

At the resurrection God will give believers a "body of glory" by miraculously transforming our mortal body (cf. Philippians 3:21; 1 Corinthians 15:51). God will never give up His claims on the body that He created. Even in this point Christ vanquished the devil by His death and resurrection.

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
