John the Baptist had testified of Jesus Christ, the...

Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.
Hebrews 9:28

John the Baptist had testified of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29). Having come to earth in the form of man, Christ "obtained eternal redemption" through His atoning death (Hebrews 9:12).

The problem of sin could be solved only by perfect atonement. Christ Himself suffered as the sacrifice for the sins of the lost, so that we could be saved. "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5).

Many people have sought another way. They have tried in vain to improve themselves and by this means to become acceptable to God. But that does not meet God's holy demands. We can come to Him solely in the way that He Himself has appointed. That way is Jesus Christ: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Whoever believes in Him and claims His substitutional sacrifice for himself personally obtains the forgiveness of all his guilt (cf. Ephesians 1:7; 2:8).

So place your burden of sin upon Him, for "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

We must take God at His word. He does not lie. He revealed his great love by giving His Son as the sacrifice. He is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). Today is the right time to do so!

Today's reading: Jeremiah 38:1-13 · Romans 8:26-30

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
